Obituary of Arthur Leonard Anderson

Arthur Leonard Anderson, age 85, of Bloomington MN, died Saturday, August 12, 2023 at the Minnesota Masonic Home in Bloomington. He was surrounded by family when he went to heaven. Art was the son of Helen Elizabeth Anderson and Arthur Gustaf Anderson, born on February 3, 1938 in Chicago Illinois Cook County. He was a graduate of Calumet High school and went to Valparaiso University for college. He served in the National Guard as a medic but his passion was aviation. He was a flight instructor and had his commercial pilot's license. He planned to be a pilot for the airlines but servicemen returning from war filled all openings. Instead he ended up starting a successful sales career at Kaiser Aluminum.

He married Dixie Lee Francis, and had two children, Karen and Linda and resided in Mount Prospect, IL until the family moved to Edina, Minnesota. No longer would he have to travel super long distances to get to his favorite vacation fishing spots at Snowbank Lodge in Ely Minnesota. He lived with his wife Dixie in Bloomington, MN and had the opportunity to spend time with their extended family at their condo in Florida before his time at the Masonic Home. Arthur L. Anderson is preceded in death by parents, Helen Anderson, Arthur Anderson, and brother Alvin Anderson. He is survived by wife, Dixie Anderson; Children, Karen Stahl(Jeff), Linda Sherman,(Paul); Grandchildren, Kylie(Darion), Matthew, Ashley, Erin; Great grandchild, Langston; In-laws, Nancy Anderson, Wayne Francis(Barbara); Nephews, Arnie Anderson(Heather), Scott Francis(Cindy); Nieces, Wendy Francis and Kristen Gray(Cody).
