Obituary of John Carl Brunzell

Brunzell, John C., age 75, of Bloomington, passed peacefully after a long illness on July 18, 2023, at Providence Place, Minneapolis with family by his side.

John is preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Grace Brunzell.

He is survived by his wife Carol (nee Jones); stepdaughters Sue (Dick) Kimmel, and Barb (Joe) Jenniges; brother Jim; sister Carol Brunzell (Paul Garrett); nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren, and many extended family members and friends.

John was a Vietnam veteran, a former chef in many excellent restaurants, and a longtime employee at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center. John will be greatly missed for his sense of humor, great blues harmonica playing, and his love of music, old movies, and Westerns.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, September 9th at the Cremation Society of Minnesota- Edina Chapel, 7110 France Avenue S., Edina, MN. 11 AM visitation, 12 PM service, and reception to follow on-site from 1 pm -3 pm.

Private interment will be held at Fort Snelling Cemetery

In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s name may be made to the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs or the Courage Center in Golden, MN.
