David Raymond Schmitt "Schmitty" of Henderson,MN passed away unexpectedly on July 17, 2023
Dave was born on May 29th 1962 one of identical twins in St Cloud, Mn to Sylvester and Lucille (Gruenes) Schmitt
He grew up on his family’s farm in Eden Valley Mn he attended local schools until graduation in 1980.
He attended Granite Falls Technical College ( where he insists they erected a statue in his honor but got moved to make room for a Hardee’s) and received his certification in Fluid Power/Engineering.
After graduation Dave traveled the country making friends and fixing problems in the fluid power community. Dave truly enjoyed his job and often commented that he enjoyed meeting his customers and making sure they had everything they needed. He is considered an expert in his field by many
On May 5, 2000 he married Jennifer (Murray) Schmitt and settled in Henderson Mn
Dave enjoyed the usual Mn hobbies fishing, hunting camping. However his true passions were restoring Round Oak stoves, his Dad’s Farmall C tractor and making the best durn ribs around(his brother would like to differ on that opinion)
Dave had the best sense of humor and untold amount of Dad jokes, much to his children’s chagrin
He had an unlimited supply of stories (true or not) and really lived his life to the fullest. He made many friends across the states and will be missed by all
He is survived by wife Jennifer, children Kaylee ( of Mankato) Trevor (Mapleton) twin brother Dan (Sherry) Farmington,Mn. Joanie (Roger) Hiljus of Cambridge, Jim (Linda) of Litchfield Bernie(Virg) of St CloudMaxine (Dell) of Dalbo Barb(Dave) of Rockford Kenny of Montgomery
best friend Jason(Jennifer) Trapp of Jordan
God daughter Caitlin (Brenden) Yourzcek and Godson Jeremy Garding
Many nieces and nephews who meant so much to him.
A celebration of life is planned for August 13, 2023 at the Ney Nature Center in Henderson starting at 1 pm. It will be a true celebration of Dave with all the things he loved motorcycles and smoked meat and tractors. Wear your motorcycle gear if you have it.
