Obituary of Henry Alexander Halvorson

Henry Alexander Halvorson, age 54 of Shoreview passed away on July 20th, 2023 after losing his battle with colon cancer. Henry proudly served as a Minneapolis Police Officer for 31 years where he most recently served as Assistant Chief.  During his time with MPD, Henry was known for his honest, forthright, and dedicated leadership.

Henry was preceded in death by his mother Jeanette; father Richard; sister Becky; father in law David Tessier.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years Denise; daughters Rosa, Marissa and Alayna; son Frankie; brother Erik; mother in law Marlene Tessier; sister in laws Renee Tessier, Karen Hanson and Polli Kieger; brother in law Mark Tessier (Dianne); special nieces Jessie and Lucy; nephew Patrick who he helped raise and loved them as his own; with many other nieces, nephews and cousins. 

The family extends their enormous love and gratitude to Dr Kim Thielen, Dr Tim Larson and the whole group at Mn Oncology Mpls clinic, the caring and compassionate staff at J.A. Wedum Hospice, Jim Novak for all his support during this difficult time, as well as to Police Chaplain Mike Lynch. Henry’s career introduced us to a family like no other and for that, we will always be grateful.

The family will receive friends and well-wishers for a celebration of life on Friday July 28th.  Visitation 10-12; Service 12-1; Luncheon following at Mermaid Supper Club, 2200 Hwy 10 E, Arden Hills, MN 55112.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the family.
