Obituary of Gary A Larson

Gary A. Larson 88, formerly of St. Paul, MN, passed away on June 25, 2023. Born on September 26, 1934, in St. Paul, MN; Gary was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Dorace Larson, brother Bob Larson, and grandson Thomas Larson. He is survived by his children: Kurt (Dorothy) Larson, Kevin (Richelle Nicosia) Larson, Kenn Larson, Karin (Todd) Bruehl, Kraig (Chris) Larson, 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Gary grew up on the Eastside of St. Paul where he met the love of his life, Dorace (Caw), while attending Johnson Senior High. The two were inseparable and married in 1955. Shortly after their marriage, Gary was deployed to Germany with the Army as a Combat Engineer. When he returned home, Gary began working with his brother as a brick layer. Later, he spent the last 25 years of his career working for the St. Paul School district as the mason supervisor. In his free time, Gary could often be found building brick fireplaces, patios, and chimneys for his friends and family. In 1997 Gary and Dorace retired to “the farm” near Moose Lake, MN. This was his sanctuary where he enjoyed being outside maintaining his golf course, hunting or just working in the garage. Gary and Dorace loved the quiet life that the farm afforded to them.

Gary’s Celebration of Life will be held at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 1979 Old Hudson Rd., Saint Paul, MN on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, from 1:00–5:00 pm.
