Obituary of Elizabeth Needham

Elizabeth Irene Needham was 86 years old, formerly of St. Anthony, Minnesota. She passed away of natural causes on Saturday July 8th while living in Hermantown, Minnesota. She was born on August 18th, 1936, in Kintyre, North Dakota to Romaltus and Christina Wangler. She moved to the Twin Cities in 1961 and worked in a dental lab and then a recording studio where she met her future husband. They married in 1962 and they had two sons, Scott and Shawn. She was a stay-at-home mom until her youngest was the age of 12, then she returned to the career of dentistry. She worked in some form until the age of 80 years old. She moved to Duluth, Minnesota at the beginning of March of 2020 to be closer to her Granddaughter and her family.

Elizabeth, in her spare time, liked to cook and bake. She liked to read devotional books and worked on word search puzzles. She loved playing board games with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth Needham is survived by her sisters Millie Schmidt, Marcy Bitz, Fran (Phil) Shlosser, Leona Werre, Helen (Seb) Schumacher; brothers, Tony Wangler, Tom (Jan) Wangler and Gary Wangler; sons Scott and Shawn Needham; granddaughter Christina (Adam) Jagunich; Grandson, Cayden Needham; Step-Grand Children, Brandon and Nicole Germain and many nieces and nephews.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents Romaltus and Christina Wangler; sisters, Mary Masseth and Christine Weigel; brother, Mark Wangler; brothers-in-law, Adam Masseth, Al Weigel, Valentine Schmidt, Leonard Bitz and Gene Werre; sisters-in-law, Rita Wangler and Audrey Wangler; daughter-in-law, Lisa Needham.

The service to celebrate Elizabeth’s life will be on Tuesday August 15th at the Duluth Cremation Society of Minnesota. Its located at 4100 Grand Avenue in Duluth, Minnesota. Visitation will start at 2pm. The memorial will start at 3pm.

The family would like to thank Christina’s mom Lori for being such a help with Elizabeth, whether it be take her on errands or out to lunch any time she asked. We would also like to thank the staff at Edgewood Vista Memory Care and Hospice at Caring Edge for making Elizabeth comfortable the last couple of difficult months.
