Obituary of Eugenia Louise Nedry

Eugenia Louise (Tordsen) Nedry, age 82, passed away on 6/20/2023. Preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Gene Edward Nedry and parents, Harry and Katherine Tordsen. She will be missed by many in Brooklyn Park and her hometown of Jackson, MN.  

From birth, Eugenia was a memorable character, starting with her given name. She grew up with her 2 sisters in a memorable place, the Jackson County Sheriff’s residence as her father served as sheriff for 25 years (1943-1968). She graduated from Central High School in 1959 and moved to Minneapolis to attend Lutheran Bible Institute. She was approached by Doris Robinson of the Robinson Beauty School who encouraged her to pursue a different occupation. Genie enjoyed working in the beauty field for many years. She met her husband when he was a delivery driver for Franklin Liquors in Minneapolis. They married on July 31st, 1965. They had three children. The family lived on Scott Avenue in Brooklyn Park where she was a well-loved neighbor and friend. She and Gene served in the Masons and Order of the Eastern Star for over 20 years. They attended Family of God Lutheran where Genie could be counted on for her baking (especially her lemon bars), her excellent sewing skills and sharing a good laugh. The family also had many memorable pets. They raised and showed dachshunds and more recently, her beloved Pekingese Odie and Lab Holly. After Gene’s death, she moved the Villa at Osseo and was well liked by residents and staff.  

She is survived by sisters Pat and Carol, children Wayne (Jennifer), Tina (Monty) and Judy, grandchildren Allen (Briana) and Andrew and great-grandson Dominic. Celebration of life 11AM on Saturday July 1 at Family of God Lutheran, 8625 Zane Avenue N, Brooklyn Park, MN with visitation at the church one hour before. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the church.
