Obituary of Rhoda Jeanette Daggett
Rhoda Jeanette (Sandberg) Daggett was born on April 5, 1943, in Minneapolis, MN to Ernest and Louise Sandberg.
Rhoda grew up in Minnetonka, MN the eldest of 5 siblings. She enjoyed ice skating, skiing, and teaching Sunday school lessons to her dolls. She excelled in academics and graduated from Hopkins High School in 1961.
Following high school, Rhoda attended Northwestern College in Minneapolis, MN where she met the love of her life, Doug. They were married on October 5, 1963. Rhoda worked for Billy Graham ministries in the administrative office before starting her family. In 1971, Doug and Rhoda moved their family to Tulsa, OK where they managed and later owned the Desert Hills Motel on Route 66. In 1987, the family moved back to MN and Doug and Rhoda managed motels in Plymouth, Bloomington, and Stillwater. In 1993, at the age of 50, Rhoda completed her BS Degree in Psychology and Sociology from Metro State University. She began working for the Hennepin County court system and spent a prominent portion of her career working as the Executive Assistant to Hennepin County Attorney, Michael O. Freeman. She retired in 2017 at the age of 74.
Rhoda was called home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, June 2, 2023, nearly 2 months after celebrating her 80th Birthday.
Rhoda is survived by her daughters Deborah (Rand) Erpelding and Julie (Hedge) Wright, son William (Larissa) Daggett, 9 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren; brothers Bruce (Linda) Sandberg and Paul (Deb) Sandberg, sisters Becky Plowman and Naomi Wold, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband Douglas Daggett, parents Ernest and Louise Sandberg, niece Virginia Plowman, brother-in-law Bruce Plowman, brother-in-law Gerald Wold, and nephew Adam Sandberg.
A celebration of Rhoda’s life will be held at Calvary Church, 7520 Golden Valley Rd, Golden Valley, MN 55427, on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at 11am. Visitation at 10am. A lunch reception will follow the service.
