Obituary of James D. Means

James D. Means June 23, 1926 - July 22, 2016 Following his childhood in Weston, West Virginia, James served in the Army Air Corps from 1944 to 1946. After his military service, he toured much of the country as a professional jazz pianist. He then settled in Minnesota, working in the insurance industry until his retirement in 1991. James was survived by his wife of 57 years, Rose; sisters Helen and Susie; daughters Cherri and Linda; and many adoring grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey and Addie; brother, Harold; daughter, Michelle; and granddaughter, Shelley. James had an easy nature, able to strike up a conversation with anyone he met. He told the most wonderful stories and always had a song to share. He loved everyone he met and they couldn't help but love him back. His kindness, gentle spirit and warm laugh will be profoundly missed by his loved ones. Services for James will be held at The Waters Church, 1227 North Pine Cone Rd, Sartell, MN at 11:00am on Saturday, July 30. He will later be inurned at Fort Snelling Cemetery in a private ceremony.
