Obituary of Edith Marie Kynell

Edith Marie Kynell passed away peacefully on July 25, 2016 at the age of 99. She was born to Ludvig and Eline Andersen on March 14, 1917 in Duluth. Edith is a Denfeld High School alumni from the class of 1935. She married Lawrence Kynell in 1943 in Duluth. They had four children: three daughters and one son. Edith worked as a weaver for Klearflax Rug Co., and then as a clerk for Glass Block Department Store until she retired in 1981. Often when reminiscing, Edith would share stories of her volleyball days including how she ended up with a crooked finger. She liked doing crossword puzzles, noting the weather on her calendar each day, catching the bus to meet friends for lunch or do some mall shopping, watching several favorite TV shows and indulging in a piece of lemon pie. She looked forward to time with her family and enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow. Edith was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and siblings. She is survived by her children, Marie Kynell of Champlin, Minn., Bill (Judy) Kynell of Duluth, Patricia (John) Hemmerling of Roseville, Minn., and Laurie Kynell of Duluth; along with seven grandchildren, Michael (Ericka) Iseminger, Melissa (Jeff) Sibinski, Amy (Rob) Sutrick, Lisa Hemmerling, Matt Hemmerling, Brent (Sarah) Kynell and Derek (Jen) Kynell. She was also delighted to have five great-grandchildren, Cole and Ethan Sutrick, Adrian and Riddick Iseminger and Sophie Kynell. In honor of their mother's and grandmother's wishes, the family will celebrate her life with a private graveside gathering.
