Obituary of Jeanne Reinhart

Jeanne Elizabeth Reinhart, 92, passed away on May 29, 2023, at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park. Her death was quick and  unexpected, her heart and lungs could no longer support the high-energy life that Jeanne so dearly loved.

Jeanne Elizabeth Paden was born February 26, 1931, in Logan, UT, to Rev. Thomas Ross Paden II and Hazel Ada Johanson Paden. Her father was a Presbyterian minister and her mother a teacher, homemaker, and an administrative assistant. Jeanne’s brother, Thomas Ross Paden III was born several years later in Logan.

The family made the first of several moves when Jeanne’s father was called to Modesto, CA. While there, her sister, Katherine Anne Paden was born. Jeanne attended high school in Minneapolis and in Wilkes Barre, PA, graduating in 1949 in PA. She and Ross followed in their parents’ footsteps and attended Macalester College in St. Paul.

Jeanne was active in her Social Work major at Macalester and was, predictably, very social on campus! She developed friendships that she maintained through her adult life. She loved her “Mac group,” and was looking forward to her 70th college reunion in a few weeks.  She was elected Homecoming Queen in 1952, an honor she greatly appreciated. While at Macalester, she met John Voigt and the day after she graduated, she and John were married on June 3, 1953. They soon started a family, adding Katy, Kevin, Keith and Chris to their household. During those years, Jeanne was a busy homemaker!

Jeanne was active in her local church, both as the administrative assistant to the minister and as a choir member where she met her second husband, Richard Reinhart. She married Dick on December 14, 1980 and welcomed his four children, Tom, Laura, Bill and Heidi. Jeanne and Dick joined Valley Community Presbyterian Church and sang in the choir for many years.

During retirement, Jeanne and Dick spent their summers at their lake cabin in WI. They welcomed visitors to their lake home, especially their children and grandchildren, but also groups from church, Jeanne’s book groups, her Mac group, her quilting group. Jeanne was in her element at the lake, and always in her element when she was with people! When Jeanne and Dick weren’t at the lake, they enjoyed trips to the southwest, especially Tucson, AZ.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her former husband John Voigt, her husband Richard Reinhart, her bonus daughter Laura Reinhart, her brother Thomas Ross Paden III, her sister-in-law Joann Johnson Paden, and her parents. She is survived by her daughter Katy Voigt Johnson, her sons Kevin Voigt (Beth), Keith Voigt (Shelly), Chris Voigt (Anne), and her bonus sons William Reinhart (Jana), Tom Reinhart, and bonus daughter Heidi Vickerman (William), her sister Kathy Paden, ten grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren, her nephew Tom Paden, and nieces Carolyn Paden, Kendra Thornbury, and Clare Ross (Michael) and great niece Josie Ross.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 16, 2023, in the Fellowship Center of Covenant Living in Golden Valley, MN.

Memorials preferred to Valley Community Presbyterian Church Musicians’ Fund, Common Hope and PRISM Social Services.
