Obituary of Marillyn Reva Beyer

MARILLYN REVA BEYER Marillyn Reva Beyer, 91, of Duluth, passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2016, in Benedictine Health Center. Marillyn was born in Pipestone, Minn., to Arthur and Marie (Veriede) Kurth. The family moved to Sioux Falls and then to Worthington where Marillyn graduated from high school. She went on to major in nursing at the University of Minnesota. In 1953, she married Jim Beyer and they had three children together. She continued her lifelong love of learning and obtained a Masters in Education degree from UMD. Marillyn taught nursing at St. Luke's School of Nursing for several decades and later worked for United Healthcare for many years. Additionally, she taught nursing and volunteered in Africa, Brazil and Peru as she was always trying to make the world and more healthful and peaceful place to live. In her own words: "I've lived a very full life and enjoyed every bit of it." She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Gloria Fairbanks. Marillyn is survived by children, John (Christine) Beyer of Duluth, Joel (Cecelia) Beyer of Ramona, Calif., and Julie (Brian) Doriott of Warrenville, Ill; six grandchildren, Kristen (Daniel) Ostertag of McKinney, Texas, Marissa Boucher of San Diego, Calif., Danielle Audette of Burnsville, Minn., Robert Audette of Duluth, Kristina and Brian Doriott Jr. both of Warrenville, Ill.; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Meranda and Ty Ostertag as well as many extended family members and friends. The family wishes to thank the staff at Benedictine Health Center for the excellent care they provided Marillyn. GATHERING OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS: 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m. memorial service on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2016 in Cremation Society of Minnesota 4100 Grand Ave. Duluth.
