Obituary of Susan Rose Fritz

With much sorrow, we are sharing that the Lord came May 1st to take Sue to his side, to a place with no more pain and lots of joy. She left with him peacefully, knowing she will always be held close in the hearts of her family.

Susan (Sue) Peterson was born April, 2, 1946 in Black River Falls, WI to Peter and Madelyn Peterson. Sue grew up in Minneapolis, and graduated from high school in Hinkley. She married Robert Fritz in 1965 after exchanging letters while he was in the service, they were deeply devoted to each other for 57 years.

They created a wonderful life together, living in various locations in the south Minneapolis suburbs, traveling in and out of the country, and cherishing time at their home on Farm Island Lake with their three children, Rob (Valerie), Rebecca, and Rachel (Troy) James, and beloved grandchildren, Marisa, Mason, Grace, Ashley, and Elise.

Sue loved talking to people and thrived in her occupation as a school secretary for Bloomington Public Schools. She was lively and active; walking, biking, or dancing daily. She had a special love for her cats, especially her Siamese. She loved music and had to move and sing along.

Sue battled Parkinson’s for 20 years and it robbed her of many of the things she enjoyed. She still deeply enjoyed her family, cats, time at the lake, and being at home with her true love, Bob, who became a skilled caretaker as the disease progressed.

She will be dearly missed by her husband, children, grandchildren, sister Barbara Harlan, brother Randy Peterson, sister-friend Nancy McConnell (Rod) and many cousins, nieces, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother’s Mark and Peter.

Service is 11 am on Tuesday May 30th at Transfiguration Lutheran Church, Bloomington. Visitation begins at 10 am and the service will be followed by a luncheon.
