Obituary of Thomas Grayson Dashiell

Thomas Dashiell Age 77, of Brooklyn Park, passed away April 24th, 2023.

Tom was born April 3, 1946 in Evanston, Illinois. After a long and fulfilling career practicing internal medicine in Maplewood, Tom retired in 2016. In retirement, Tom enjoyed taking long walks at the park, reading, fishing, spending time with family, and finally seeing his Cubbies win a World Series.

Always empathic, Tom cared for his patients, his neighbors, his friends, animals, and people he didn’t even know, but most of all for his wife and his 7 children. A family man through and through, Tom loved spending time with his kids and grandkids, going to the cabin, working in the yard, reading the paper with his wife, and snowshoeing.

Tom loved music, long drives, dancing with his grandkids, Christmas lights, and snow. Always quick with a helping hand, Tom never cared for accolades and wanted above all else to be a good person, to live out his Christian faith, and to always let his family know how much he loved them.

Tom is survived by his wife Rebecca, his children Amy (Sean), Lisa (Chris), Jacob (Kelsey), Rachael, Hannah (Alex), Ruth, Mary, his 7 grandchildren, and his sister Harriet. He is preceded in death by his parents, Grayson and Jane, and his brother Jim.

Tom’s humility, kindness, and generosity are already missed more than he could have imagined. Mass of Christian burial will be held at St Alphonsus Catholic Church in Brooklyn Center on Friday, May 5th. 10am visitation, 11am mass, followed by luncheon.
