Obituary of Irene Rose Colston

Colston, Irene Rose “Sweet Irene”. Age 88 of Richfield, formerly Minneapolis, crossed over into eternal life April 19, 2023. Preceded in death by parents Leonard and Josephine Colston, brother Len Colston, and nephew Mike Colston. Survived by brother Donald (Janice) Colston; niece Christine Colston (Keith Avenriep); grandnephews Michael and Nicholas; lifelong and best friend Merna Appelgate. After graduating from St. Margaret’s High School, Irene enjoyed a 34 year career beginning with Northwestern Bell and retiring from AT&T. Her hobbies included art, writing, travel, reading, volunteering, golf, and photography. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. Irene will be deeply missed by all of those who knew and loved her.

The family would like to thank the staff at Jones-Harrison Residence for the excellent care she received. Memorials may be made to Jones- Harrison Residence or Benilde-St. Margaret’s.

The memorial service will be held at 11 am Saturday, June 17, 2023 at the Edina chapel of the Cremation Society of Minnesota. Visitation one hour prior. Private interment at later date.
