Even though I never met him in person, I knew that Dennis was one of a kind. He had a prodigious memory for science fiction, and I could always count on him to come through when my own memory and research failed me. He was a distinct and unique presence on the Stumpers list from the moment I joined. I treasure my interactions with him, and I will miss him terribly. I am a better person for having known him, even if only online.

I'm another librarian for whom Denny Lien assumed a near mythic significance, like whatever the SF version of a Delphic oracle would be. (Denny would know, and cite mutliple stories in support.)
