Obituary of Christine Jane Burton

Christine (Sandstoe) Burton, 72, passed away on Sunday afternoon, August 14, with family at her bedside following a lengthy fight with several illnesses. She is survived by her husband, Richard, children Carol Hamm and Craig Burton, grandchildren David and William Hamm and Brady and Josie Burton as well as son-in-law Duane Hamm and daughter-in-law Becki Burton, brothers Jerry and Dean Sandstoe and a sister-in-law Garda Sandstoe. Christine was born June 14, 1944 in Beaman, IA the daughter of Ingwald and Opel Sandstoe. She was a graduate of Beaman-Conrad high school, Marshalltown Community College and attended Morningside College in Sioux City. She married Richard on November 26, 1966. The couple began their union in Ida Grove, IA where Christine was employed as a x-ray technician for a local chiropractor. The couple began their family following a relocation to Atlantic, IA. After the birth of her two children, Christine taught Lutheran Sunday school, was a Cub Scout leader and invested an endless amount of time making sure her children made it on time to youth activities including church, school, gymnastics, dance, baseball and flag football. After living eight years in Atlantic and 12 years in Ft. Dodge, IA, the family moved to Coon Rapids, MN in 1983. She and Richard built a new home in Ramsey in 2003. Christine was manager of Extra Innings, a sports collectible business located in Oak Park Plaza in Blaine, MN, for two years. She was a part of family businesses, Go-4 Cards and RB Marketing, for over 30 years. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held Sunday, August 28, beginning at 1 pm at her home at 15840 Lithium Street in Ramsey, MN.
