Obituary of Barbara Joyce Thoennes

Barbara J. Thoennes (Kaul), 80 of Richfield, MN passed away on April 8, 2023 after a long battle with cancer. She was born to Hilgard and Esther Kaul on June 8, 1942 in Good Thunder, MN She graduated from Good Thunder High School in 1960. An active longtime member of St Richards Catholic Church in Richfield, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 56 years, Roger A. Thoennes, parents Hilgard and Esther Kaul, her sister Sharon along with her father and mother-in-law Herbert and Isabella Thoennes. She is survived by her children Sandy (Dan), Doug (Jackie), Cheryl, Chad (Jen) and Brian (Angie); grandchildren DJ, Andrew, Sarah, Amanda (Logan), Morgan (Tayt), Addi, Shelby, Chelsea, and Naomi; great grandchildren Damien, Trey, and Derick. She is also survived by 3 sisters; Janice, Shirley, and Peggy; many nieces, nephews, and in-laws. A fantastic cook she was known for her hospitality and ability to make everyone feel welcome and at home with her. She enjoyed game shows she especially loved playing board games with her family. We would like to thank all the staff of Sholom Home West in St Louis Park, MN and especially the Sholom Hospice team for taking such amazing care of our mom during her stay there. A Mass and celebration of her life will be held on Thursday April 20th 11:00am at St Richards Catholic Church, Richfield, MN. Visitation one hour prior to mass. Luncheon immediately following mass.
