“Don’t grieve. Anything you lose comes round in another form.” ― Rumi
I know that Karen wants me to know this, so I will watch out for a beautiful breeze touching my skin, a ray of sun so gentle and warm like Karen’s smile whenever she greeted me… That’s how I will now feel Karen’s love and beautiful presence in my life.
I loved our European vacations together, all of us so happy to see each other while experiencing together a new country, a new culture and fascinating people wherever we went to! One particular vacation stands out now: our trip to France when Ward and I met them in the airport, with glasses of champagne already poured and swiftly handed to them as soon as we saw them. I remember so vividly the look on Karen’s face, her genuine joy and childlike curiosity to bombard us with questions like, “What happened, what are we celebrating, I know it’s something big!” Yes, something big did happen: we had just eloped in Edinburgh, Scotland! The whole vacation was so magical: I remember picnicking by the Eiffel Tour in Paris, all savoring French wine, French cheese and a French baguette. Though simple, that was the best meal of my life!
Throughout the years I loved visiting Karen and David’s beautiful places in America, created with so much love and light, so welcoming and so inclusive of everybody around them. Karen’s home was always an oasis of peace and love, so restoring for anybody who ever stepped into her world.
I am forever grateful to Karen for introducing to me the best of what America has to offer to a newbie in this country: authentic love, kindness, fairness, open-mindedness, genuine warmth and, most importantly, an open heart!
Karen, thank you for your big heart, your wisdom, your all-embracing love and the courage to live your life fully, with so much light that shined so brightly, inspiring all of us, in my little American family, to live our lives from the place of love!
Forever yours,
Salta
