Obituary of Kenan Recel

Kenan Recel, age 90, of Burnsville (Edina), MN passed away peacefully March 20, 2023 surrounded by his family.

Kenan Recel was born February 5, 1933 in Istanbul, Turkey.  He served as a reserve officer in the Turkish military, was the top athlete in the Istanbul Gymnastics Club and earned his degree in electrical engineering. He was married to the love of his life, Sukran Recel, for more than 61 years.  Kenan loved running, traveling extensively throughout his life in Europe and the United States with his family, was a talented engineer and smart business man with a passion for fixing things and remodeling many homes, a master at the barbeque and throwing lavish dinner parties with all those close to them, and challenging anyone at a great game of backgammon.  Kenan was known as a man of great character, a hard worker, generously always helping others, and a strong family man that loved and cared deeply for “his girls”.  He was an incredible husband, father, grandfather and friend.  His spirit lives on in all that knew him.

Kenan Recel is survived by wife, Sukran Recel; daughters, Ayca Andrews  and Ayla Recel (Heidi Colby); and granddaughter Mya Andrews;  and many other extended family members and friends.

The Celebration of Life / Memorial Service will be held at Cremation Society of MN, EDINA, 7110 France Avenue South Edina, MN 55435 on May 7^th, 2023.  Open house will be from 1-5pm, with service beginning at 2:00pm.
