Obituary of Irene Porianda Leonard

Irene Porianda Leonard, 85, of Excelsior, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 5, 2016. She was born on August 14, 1931 in Minneapolis to Peter and Mary Porianda. She graduated from Edison High School in 1949 and went on to study at the University of Minnesota for two years. She married Jack Leonard in 1951, and they raised their six children in Excelsior. Irene loved hunting, fishing, gardening, wild birds, and the Vikings. Her spirit lives on in the hearts of those who knew her. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, a sister, and a great-grandson. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Jack Leonard, her children Bill Leonard, Lydia Leonard, Terry Leonard, Shelley (Bob) Kluz, John Leonard, Nancy (Joe) Janski; grandchildren Jessica (Doug) Davis, Jeromy Johnson, Jamie Kluz, Danielle Dalton, Chris Laird, John Leonard, Tyler Martin, Cody Martin, great-grand-children; Brendan Davis, Anastasia Johnson, Adam Johnson, and Samantha Davis . A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2016 from 12:00-3:00pm at the Cremation Society of MN, 7110 France Ave. S., Edina.
