Obituary of Clayton Ronald Berg

Clayton Ronald "Papa" Berg, 75, of Crosslake, Minn., passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. Clayton was a weapons specialist for the National Air Guards 148th where he was a member of the Pistol and Rifle team, a Lead cable splicer for Minnesota Power and a member of the American Legion Post No. 500 in Crosslake, Minn. He retired from MN Power in 1995, and built a beautiful home in Crosslake. Clayton lived for his family. He loved to spend time hunting, fishing, riding his 4 wheeler and loved to pontoon the Whitefish chain. He liked his "toys" as he had two of everything in case he needed a "back up". He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joanie; his parents, Carl and Ferne Berg; and brother, Carl "Sheldon" Berg. Clayton is survived by his son, Scott (Beth) Berg; daughter, Kristy (Paul) Schultz; and son, Mark; three grandchildren, Kaleb, Daphne and Lars, and his dog Charlie; brother, Manny (Linda) Berg; and several nieces and nephews. We will always remember him for his kind soul, funny sayings of wisdom and the love he always showed towards his friends and family. GATHERING OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS: 3 to 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19, 2016 in Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4100 Grand Avenue. There will be a celebration of life held in Crosslake at a later date.
