Obituary of Betty Joy Kline

Betty Joy Kline, age 92, of Spring Park Mn, passed away on Sunday September 18 with her family by her side. Betty was a loving, witty, caring wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandma , aunt and friend and will truly be missed. Betty was born December 6, 1923 to Godfred and Johanna Hamland. She attended grade school in Virginia MN and graduated from Duluth Denfield high school. She attended St. Scholastica to pursue her teaching degree. She landed her first teaching job in Adams, MN. She was the home economics teacher. She was also responsible for preparing lunch for the entire school. Betty met the love of her life, John Kline, at her sisters and his brothers wedding. They corresponded through letters while John served his term in WWII. They were married Aug. 1, 1947. They settled into a home in Shakopee until John was relocated to Le Sueur. This is where they raised their family of five boys. Betty did some substitute teaching, but was mostly a busy stay at home mom. They also spent their retirement on Lake O’Brien in Cross Lake MN. Betty was talented with so many things. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, embroidery and produced countless masterpieces and earning 26 blue ribbions at the Crow Wing County fair. She continued to enjoy this even in her last few months. She was a part of the Prayer Shawl Ministry at her local St. John’s Lutheran Church. Betty was also a phenomenal cook, which came in handy with five hungry boys. She was an avid doll collector and often had people stop in to see her display. Betty is survived by her 5 sons John(Barbara) of New Praque, Ron(Lisa) of Minnetrista, James(friend Shannon Tolzin), Dan(Margaret) of Le Sueur, Don(Sue) of Pine City. She had 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. A Memorial Service Honoring Betty’s Life will be held 1:00 P.M. October 8th, 2016 at Lake Minnetonka Shores, 4559 Shoreline Drive, Spring Park, MN 55384 with reception to follow. Memorials in Lieu of flowers preferred to The Benevolence Fund, LMS, 4559 Shoreline Dr. Attn: Jodi Devick.
