Obituary of Thelma Evelyn M. Emberson

Thelma Evelyn M. Emberson, 93, of Carefree Assisted Living, 36 Bell Circle, Silver Bay, passed away peacefully with her husband Reuben at her side. Evelyn was born in Valley City, N.D., on Sept. 6, 1923 to Andrew and Clara Modahl. She graduated from Green School, Barnes County, N.D., and she moved to Superior, in 1942 where she met Reuben. They were married at Camp Crowder, Mo., on March 17, 1944. Evelyn was actively involved in Boy Scouts and received the Silver Fawn Award; also active in the Lion and Lioness Club in Esko; an active member at the St. Paul Lutheran, Cloquet and Grace Free in Valley City, N.D. She loved to travel and visit relatives especially in Norway. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clara and Andrew Modahl; her brother, Vern; son, David; and son-in-law, Daniel Gazett. She is survived by her husband, Reuben of 72 years; son, Larry (Betty) Emberson; daughter, Carol (Howard) Nopola; two grandsons; four great- grandchildren; one great great-granddaughter; a sister, Agnes (William) Hass of Valley City, N.D.; and cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as many caring and loving friends. SERVICE: 2 p.m. Sept. 28, 2016 in the United Protestant Church in Silver Bay. There will be no visitation. Pastor Paul Scaringi will officiate. Refreshments following the service.
