Obituary of Allan Daniel Erstad

Allan Daniel Erstad of Burnsville, Minnesota died Saturday, September 25, 2016 at Ebenezer Ridges Long Term Care Center in Burnsville, Minnesota. Born in Norman County, Minnesota, July 9, 1932 to Nels and Asta (Hanson) Erstad. Allan was preceded in death by his loving wife, Diane (Wold) Erstad; brothers Walter, Myron, and Clifford, and his sisters Mildred and Nina. Allan is survived by his sons, John Erstad and James Erstad; his stepchildren Carol (Richard) Frame and Bruce (Sandy) Tweedy; his brother Sidney (Ardell) Erstad; his sister Carol Wika; and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Allan was able to find the good in anybody and anything and felt most at peace when he was bringing joy to others through funny stories, happy memories, or beautiful country songs. He no doubt refined this gift for life when overcoming his bout with tuberculosis from ages 14 to 21. During that time, he listened to the Grand Ole Opry on the radio and taught himself to play guitar. He would continue to use that talent and gift to entertain and bring joy to others for the rest of his life. On August 8, 1959, Allan married the love of his life, Diane Wold Erstad. They spent over fifty-one years happily married - enjoying life with their children, grandchildren, and friends. Allan spent much of his life serving others through his business as a mechanic. He also spent a great deal of time playing country music with his wife and family. Allan and Diane enjoyed their retirement spending quality time with each other, their friends, and families. They enjoyed beautiful landscapes and traveled often to enjoy them. People who knew Allan often say things similar to this: “He was an amazing person. He never said anything bad about anyone. He inspired me to become a better person.” His family wholeheartedly agrees. Allan will be dearly missed. A memorial service for Allan will be held October 15th 1pm - 3pm at the Cremation Society of Minnesota Edina, Tentatively.
