Obituary of Donna Kay Anderson
Donna Kay Anderson, 68, of Duluth, passed away on Sept. 30, 2016. She died peacefully in her home, in the care of her close family, friends, and Essentia Health Hospice.
Donna was born on Oct. 12, 1947 in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, to Virgil and Doris Johnson.
She married her loving husband, Greg Anderson, on July 8, 1972. They were married 44 years.
Donna and Greg made Duluth their home in 1974. Prior to this, Donna became a Registered Nurse in Saint Paul. Her education later expanded with a B.S. in Nursing, a M.S. in Education, and a M.S. in Nursing. Among her many certifications and recognitions, she was certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She assisted her patients in their healing, and inspired them with her kindness and devotion. Donna made lasting contributions in the medical community, and especially carried a deep fondness for her colleagues.
Donna's interests spanned many disciplines and themes, and included gardening, animals, mindfulness, yoga, and meditation, reading, teaching, writing and poetry, singing, traveling, and spending time with her family. She will always be remembered for her infectious laugh, her ability to find beauty in the ordinary, and her enormous heart and wisdom.
She is survived by Greg and their daughters, Meredith and Claire Anderson; as well as her brother, Dennis Johnson; and two sisters, Debra Brown and Lois Davis.
MEMORIAL SERVICE: 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 14 in the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Duluth.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorial donations be made in Donna's name to either the American Cancer Society or Animal Allies Humane Society of Duluth.
