Obituary of Doug Pixley

Doug Pixley, 51, Farmington MN. formerly Pelican Rapids MN. passed away Sunday, October 2, 2016, at his home in Farmington MN from kidney cancer. Douglas Wade Pixley was born July 29, 1965 in Pelican Rapids MN to Dale and Darlene Pixley. He was baptised and confirmed at the First Congregational Church and a graduate of PRHS. Doug was an avid sportsman. His passion for the great outdoors was fueled by a close relationship with his Grandpa Les and his Dad. Of all the outdoor activities he enjoyed, hunting was his favorite, especially duck hunting. He also participated in duathlons and cross fit training, loved riding his Harley, raced motorbikes, snowmobiles and ATV's and also was a Scuba diver. Even in employment, Doug found a way to be outdoors. As a 20 year employee at TPC Landscape, Burnsville, MN., he supervised irrigation installation and repair during summer months and snow removal during winter. As a Father, Doug's son Christopher and his daughter, Mariah were fiercely loved. Although a man of few words, his children never questioned his love and devotion for them. He was a wonderful father, son, spouse, brother, uncle and friend. Doug is survived by his wife, Shelley, son Christopher (Callie) Pixley, Clarksville TN., daughter Mariah Pixley, San Antonio, TX., Granddaughter Eleanor Rose Pixley, Clarksville TN., Shelley's children Alyssa Doll and her daughter Lillie, Justin Doll, Dillon Doll, all Breman IN., and Matthew Doll, Farmington, MN., his parents Dale and Darlene Pixley Vergas MN., brothers David (Darcy)Pixley ,Pelican Rapids MN., Daryl Pixley, Wolverton MN., Dan(Megan Harthun) Pixley, Dent MN. Grandmother Luella Meyer, Fergus Falls MN. and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Doug is preceded in death by his Grandparents Les and Angie Pixley, Selvin Samuelson, Donald Meyer and a cousin Eric Samuelson. A celebration of Doug"s life will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, Erhard MN on Saturday, October 15 at 11:00 A.M. followed by a luncheon at the church. Burial will be in Scambler Cemetary, rural Pelican Rapids.
