Obituary of Ronald D. Broad

Ronald "Ron" D. Broad, 82, of Duluth, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016 in Golden Oaks in Proctor. Ron was born in Duluth on Oct. 18, 1933 to Keith and Esther (Johnson) Broad. He attended schools in Duluth and Hermantown and soon after enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After the service, Ron returned to Duluth and went to work for U.S. Steel. On July 22, 1967, he was united in marriage to Ann Broad. The couple remained in Duluth until Ron's job led them to Baytown, Texas. After 10 years in Texas, they returned to Duluth. Ron enjoyed hunting deer near the Shaefer lake area and spent many days fishing on Island and Fish Lake. He was also fond of gardening and tending to his flowers. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann in 2011; and sister, Shirley. Ronald is survived by three children, Robert, Cindy and Annette; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two stepsons, Donald and John, as well as extended family members and friends.
