Obituary of Mary Lou Gemlo

Gemlo, Mary Lou age 69, of Minneapolis died October 20th, 2016 after a short battle with cancer. Mary was born December 22, 1946 to James and Fern Gemlo in Mankato, MN. She was the fourth of ten children. Mary graduated from Good Counsel Academy in 1965 and attended Mankato State College and Photography School in Maine. She joined the Army in 1969 where she served as a photographer for a general. She married Michael Bolan in January 1980. Mary was involved in art, theater and photography all her life and managed to get many of her siblings involved. She volunteered in schools throughout Minneapolis as a teacher's assistant. The last couple years of her life she helped take care of her grandnephew, Jude. Her creativity, generosity, humor, caring and love of children characterized her life as a spirit to all her nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Mary is survived by her husband, sisters, Sandy, Patricia, Michelle, Bridget; brothers, Greg and Steven. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Michael, Patrick and sister Kathleen. A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, November 5th, 2016, 11:00-2:00pm at Minneapolis Chapel, 4343 Nicollet Ave. South, Minneapolis, MN. Private interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
