Obituary of Dorothy West

Dorothy Mae West passed away peacefully at the age of 87 on October 25, 2016. She is survived by her children Todd, Nancy, and Jeff. Dorothy had three Granddaughters, Lindsey, Larissa, and Lesleigh as well as six Great Grandchildren, Grace, Asher, Astrid, Addison, Brooke, and Samantha. Nieces, Joyce and Donna, Nephews, Keith, Kevin, and David. Dorothy was a proud wife and mother for many years before becoming a member of the Minneapolis Public School District, where she worked with Special Education children. She retired from teaching in the Hopkins School District in 1987. She became a single independent woman in her middle years, where she then traveled, developed new friendships and found new interests, which included gardening and music. Dorothy had many friends over the years, and enjoyed sharing a good laugh with those she knew, she was devoted to her parents and generously gave her time and care to providing for their last days. Although her last years were masked by memory loss, she would always light up, had a sparkle in her eyes and a smile when loved ones visited her. She is preceded in death by her Parents Ross and Maggie, Step Mother Garnet, Sisters Nova and Mildred and Brother Archer.
