Obituary of Virginia Louise Anderson

Virginia Louise Anderson, 88, of Two Harbors, formerly of Brimson, passed away peacefully on Oct. 29, 2016 in the Benedictine Health Center in Duluth. Virginia was born May 4, 1928, to Lottie (Wilson) and Walter Quigley in Duluth. She attended Central High School, where she met and later married Gerald Anderson on Feb. 2, 1951. She devoted her time to homemaking and raising her four children. She worked at ISD 709 as a cook at Cobb School, where she always had a smile and a kind word for each child she served. Virginia loved the outdoors and spending time at the lake, where she was an active member of the Bassett Congregational Church, Bassett Lake Action Club, and served as the "Loon Ranger" of Bassett Lake, recording census information on loon populations for the DNR. She spent several years living in Tehran, Iran with her husband, Gerald, and son, Burt. They returned home in 1978 with many interesting stories. After returning, Gerald and Virginia retired to their beloved cabin, where they spent their retirement years. Virginia dearly loved to be at the cabin and cherished both the solitude of the North Woods and the lifelong friendships that she developed over the years in the Brimson area and beyond. A kind and welcoming soul, she was universally loved by everyone that she met. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; daughter, Sharon; twin sister, Verna and brothers, Bob, Walt and Jerry. Virginia is survived by children, Roy, Roger (Mary Ellen) and Burt (Amy); son-in-law, Gary (Janet); grandchildren, Nicolas, Jen (Tony), Trevor (Amanda), Nathan (Tiffany), Mason, Raelee, Ryan (Lesley), Kevin (Molly) and Eric (Laura); great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Nathan, Reid, Nolan, Braden, Harper, Reed, Mabel and Mack and beloved nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be held this spring (date to be announced) in the Bassett Congregational Church. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to Bassett Congregational Church, Brimson MN 55602. Cremation Society of Minnesota 218-624-5200
