Obituary of Larry Clifford Randen

Randen, Larry Clifford Larry C. Randen, 75, of Rosemount, MN (formerly of Le Sueur, MN) died November 4th, 2016. Larry was the son of Clifford E. Randen and Evelyn Y. Randen (Braun) owner’s of Cliff’s Hilltop Grocery in Le Sueur, MN. The loving husband of Lollie Lolita (nee Anttila) Hess, passed away from heart disease at his home in Rosemount, MN. He is survived by his wife Lollie, two adult children, Christopher (Nancy) & Heidi (Frank Hudson) and Lollie’s children Brian, Amber, Amanda and Daren. He was also survived by two sisters, Jill (Bob) Palmer & Susan (John) Mueller, his brother William (Peggy) Randen, AFS Brother Hans (Asta) Pedersen and several grandchildren, all living in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Larry was an avid writer and historian. He was described as a veritable encyclopedia on religion and art. He was known for his over 300 “Multi Media” presentations from 1965-1985, that he did for organizations, school graduations and worship services. Randen was an Ordained United Church of Christ Minister for almost 30 years until his retirement in 1996. He was told that there are two kinds of ministers: those that create things that others use and those who use them. Larry was in that first group. Randen was a published John Updike scholar and a Joseph R. Brown scholar as well, where he contributed a vast number of books, maps and research material to the Joseph R. Brown Center in Henderson. His final in-depth research project was about the MN River Valley. His interests included reading, research, history, e-mail correspondence, classical music, movies, and playing with his grandchildren. Randen was honored with the “Athlete of the Year” award from Le Sueur/Henderson High School in 1959 and honored as a 2014 inductee into the program’s Hall of Fame. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A Celebration of his Life will be held Tuesday, November 29th between 2 pm and 4pm at the Cremation Society of Minnesota at 7110 France Ave. S.
