Obituary of Muriel Jane Brodin
Muriel Jane (Harris) Brodin, 80, passed away peacefully on Nov. 13, 2016.
Muriel was born on Sept. 29, 1936 in MacGregor, Manitoba, Canada.
She moved to Winnipeg as a baby where she grew up and attended school and college. Muriel worked at the Winnipeg Public Library until 1969, when she married Al Brodin. Al and Muriel lived in Crookston, before settling permanently in Duluth in 1975, where they raised their family.
Muriel became an American citizen in 1976. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and an Honorary Life Member of the Duluth PTSA. Muriel was well known by many as their local Avon sales rep for over 30 years, and as a collector of hundreds of turtles. She was proud to have visited all 50 U.S. states and nine Canadian provinces during her lifetime, but her proudest accomplishments were as a mother and grandmother.
Muriel was preceded in death by her parents, Isabel and Gilbert Harris; and her only sibling, Jack Harris.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Al; daughter, Sherrill (Michael) Yeaton; son, Paul (Leslie); grandchildren, Steel, Sampson, Macey and Crosby; and countless others whose lives she touched throughout her life.
VISITATION: 1 p.m. Friday Nov. 18, until the 2 p.m. memorial service in Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 410 N. Arlington Ave.
