Annika Varda

Our daughter and sister, Annika Esther Varda, 33, left us tragically on March 25. She was lost due to an accidental drug overdose.

Annika was fiercely independent, perhaps as a shield to her kind, sensitive and trusting inner self.

Throughout her life she showed intelligence, energy, talent and creativity. She was fearless playing hockey and daring on a snowboard.

Her passion was writing and playing her own music, but she could also draw and paint in provocative ways that revealed her feelings and spiritual thoughts. Her desire was to make creations that shared joy with others.

Annika attended the Institute of Production and Recording where she gained skills that she applied to her music and her many YouTube videos. She attended Southwest High School in Minneapolis and Lake Superior College in Duluth.

She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Annika is survived by her mother Dawn Luoma, father Richard Varda, step mother Julie Varda, sister Maija Varda and her husband Greg Kirkland, brother Kenton Varda and his wife Jade Wang, along with a large and loving extended family.

Decisions on services and gatherings to honor Annika are pending. Announcements will be posted at this website.
