Obituary of Wendy Dorothea Splett
Wendy Dorothea Splett, 69, of Littlefork, MN passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 19, 2023, at Essentia - St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth, MN surrounded by her family and friends.
Wendy was born October 5, 1953, in Littlefork, MN to parents Richard and Dorothy Keep. She attended Littlefork-Big Falls School. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Randy “Buck” Splett on June 5, 1970. They had a son Brian and were married for 44 years until Buck’s passing in 2014.
Wendy was employed as a waitress at the local restaurant, Littlefork Printing, and in the laundry department at the Littlefork Care Center until her retirement in 2013. She was a devoted wife, mother, aunt, sister, and daughter.
She loved to spend time with family and friends at her home, which was often a central gathering place. Her hobbies included gardening, flowers, quilting, painting, and crafting of all kinds. She could make anything out of nothing. Most every member of her family and her friends received something hand made by Wendy. She also loved to bake. At Christmas time, many cookie trays were distributed to neighbors, family, and friends, both near and far.
Wendy was very giving of her time and talents. She spent hours binding quilts and making quilt tops for the church. She knit hats and mittens for students at local schools and out of state. She also created many picture memory books that were shared with family and friends.
Wendy was preceded in death by her father Richard Keep; her son Brian Splett; husband Randy “Buck” Splett; sisters Rickie Splett and Eva Johnson.
Wendy is survived by her mother Dorothy Keep; sister Starlene Keep (Bob); brothers Allen (Debbie) Keep and Perry (Mary) Keep; brother-in-law Gary Splett; nieces Angel (Mike) Hepokoski, April (David) Michels, Christina (Jesse) Wilson, Cynthia Keep, Danny Keep, Heather Bjorklund and Shannon Henson; nephews Raymond (MaryAnn) Splett, Randy (Kristi) Splett, Gary W. Nordlund and Joey Keep; numerous cousins, great nieces and nephews; special friends Jerry and Cleo Anderson and family, and Nadine and Brian Snyder.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 20th at Dentaybow Cemetery in Littlefork.
