Obituary of Lloyd Farral Kasten
Passed away peacefully at the age of 79. Preceded in death by parents Lola & Charles Kasten.
Survived by children Charles (Donna McNeil) Kasten, Melissa (Ron) Blackledge, Christopher
(Denill) Kasten. Many grandchildren and great grandchildren - or as he would say “a whole tribe
of ankle biters” and special friend Violet Eagle.
Born and raised in Washington, he was a proud Navy veteran and settled in Minnesota in the
early 60’s. He enjoyed his last several years as a resident of Sisseton SD. He was an avid fan
of all things automobile related and a self proclaimed “certified chevrolet factologist”. He was
loved by many and could talk to anyone, about anything - but his favorite subjects were cars,
guns, and the 50’s. He enjoyed National Geographic, History, old Westerns, the smell of burning
rubber and could watch American Graffiti all day long.
Special thanks to the caregivers, social workers, and Medical Foster Home program
coordinators and all those involved at both the Fargo ND VA and Minneapolis MN VA for all
their help and support over the last several months.
Should you wish to memorialize him, please donate to your favorite veterans charity or humane
society as he also had a great love for dogs.
Lloyd will be buried at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on Wednesday, July 18, 2018.
