Obituary of Mary Kathryn Raiter

 

Mary Kathryn Raiter (Larsen)

Age 79 of Eagan, MN; formerly of St. Paul Park, MN, died peacefully in her home on March 11th, 2023

Born 9/7/1943 in Vesta, MN.  Mary graduated from Humboldt High School, St. Paul, MN in 1961.  Mary worked at St. Paul Fire Marine. Mary Kathryn and Thomas Earl Raiter were married on 6/19/1965 in West St. Paul. Mary was a talented seamstress and cake decorator. Other hobbies included; knitting, gardening, reading, volunteering at church, but her favorite pastime was spending time with family. Mary was an avid Vikings and Twins fan. She also continued to get together regularly with her high school girlfriends, a.k.a., The Club Girls.

Mary and Tom wintered for many years in Sun City West, AZ, where they enjoyed the sun and activities including classic car shows and exploring the Southwest US with friends.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Raiter; parents Emil and Helen Larsen; Brother Merlyn (Mary Ann) Larsen; Brother Richard (Vivian) Larsen; Nephew, Dallas Larsen; Sister Phyllis (Jim) Weisz; and David Ecklund; In-laws, William (Faye) Raiter and Gerald (Jane) Rick.

   Mary is survived by daughter Brenda (John) Gieser; son David (Christine) Raiter and granddaughters Lauren and Alyssa; nieces Joan Weisz (son Jeremy); Janell (Greg) Niles (daughter Sidney); Steve (Isabel) Larsen and (children Angel, Telijia, Miranda and Lucas); Susan Larsen (Scott Kohler); In-laws Robert Raiter; Katherine (Ron) Ricci; Richard (Ruth) Raiter; Mary Jo (James) Haire; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. 

Many thanks to Mary’s Health Care team including the wonderful staff from Mayo Clinic, United Hospital, and Stonehaven of Eagan.

Visitation Saturday, March 25th 10AM.  Funeral at 11:00 AM.  Newport Lutheran Church, 900 15th St., Newport, MN 55055. Luncheon to follow.  Internment to be held at Fort Snelling at a future date.
