Obituary of Kevin Walter Driscoll

Kevin was the youngest of the five children born to Sarah(Sally) and Albert(Al) Driscoll.  The only “ginger” in the family, Kevin grew up in St. Paul at 644 Goodrich Ave, with his parents, two brothers, Michael & Andy and two sisters, Sara & Susan.  He attended St. Luke’s elementary until the family moved to Pacific Palisades, CA where he went to Paul Revere Junior High.  Just two years later most of the family returned to St. Paul and Kevin finished middle and high school at SPA.  He met Linda, his wife of over 40 years, in Bayfield during the Apple Festival while staying at his beloved Madeline Island.   They returned many times over the years to visit their favorite spots.

A curious, open, investigative man with an interest in politics, current events, the arts and his St. Paul community, Kevin found his voice in journalism, in both broadcast and print outlets.  He learned his craft at the University of Minnesota and brought his skills for organizing, details and a keen sense of others to his writing.  He is most remembered, until fairly recently, for his many insightful articles in the Highland Villager.

A “good guy,” with a big heart he always had a warm hug for all of us in his large family, his many cousins and good friends and old pals from Crocus Hill and beyond. Those hugs along with his personal essence will be deeply missed.

Preceded in death by his parents, Sarah & Albert and two brothers, Andy & Michael, Kevin is survived by his wife Linda, sisters, Sara & Susan, three nieces, Amy, Molly & Jessica, nephew Brian, great niece, Madeline and great nephew, Christopher Williams.  Immediate and extended family will gather to celebrate Kevin in mid-June.  If you are inclined to make a donation in his name, you might do so to Heifer, Intl or World Central Kitchen…and thank you.
