John Robert (Bob) Oberg

6/18/1933-3/1/2023 (89)

Preceded in death by parents, Leonard Rahlf and Edythe Amelia Oberg, wives Carolyn Rolla and Alice Elizabeth, brother James, and sons Paul and Peter.  Bob is survived by daughters Kristin Bosard (Bill Hennen), Sonja Nikosch (John), Mary Oberg, son David Oberg (Marit), nephew Roger Oberg, niece Vicki Oberg and many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Bob enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, dancing, and spending time with his family. Bob was a US Army Korean war Veteran and a retired teacher w/ SD 622 at John Glenn Jr High, N St Paul where he taught vocal and general music as well as coached boy’s wrestling.  Bob was a member of the National Rifle Association and was an expert rifleman, sharpshooter, and gun safety instructor.  Bob volunteered as a Boy Scout leader for his boy’s troops and spent many nights working on bird houses and assisting the scouts to ready their cars for the soap box derby as he was a master contractor and woodworker.  Bob used these skills to build his forever home in 1966 in Mendota Heights where he lived until his passing.

No services per his wishes. Family internment at Ft Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.   Bob’s family thank you all for your support through the years.
