Obituary of Joseph Edward Johnson

Joseph E. Johnson (Joe), 70, Princeton, MN, passed away on February 13, 2023 from cancer at the Milaca Elim Care Center surrounded by family.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Gloria, daughters Amy Johnson, Lisa (Travis) Wood, and Christina Johnson; grandsons Logan, Greysen, and Oliver; sisters Joanne Baca, Jackie (Paul) Gruber; brother Patrick (Sharon) Schule; step-mom Carol Johnson; aunts Dixie Bower and Cheryl Fessler; cousins; nieces; nephews; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; and many friends. 

Preceded in death by father, James R. Johnson; mother, Patricia A. Peek; and brother, James O. Johnson.

Joe was born on July 18, 1952, in Minneapolis. As a teen, he helped his uncle move furniture for the Mayflower Moving Company. He took photography training in Minneapolis and worked as a baby photographer. In 1971, he enlisted in the Marine Corp. Following his time in the Marines, Joe worked as a carpenter for many construction companies. He also had his own construction company for several years. 

During that time, Joe became a born again Christian and attended Gospel Fellowship Church where he met his wife, Gloria. In the last few years, he attended Living Faith Gospel Tabernacle and also used his carpentry skills there to help with the remodeling of the building. In addition to carpentry, he also drove over the road for various trucking companies. 

Joe enjoyed spending time with family, especially his 3 grandsons, trips to the North Shore, and helping family and friends with their remodeling projects.

Private interment at Fort Snelling. A memorial service will be held Friday, April 14 at 10:30 AM at Living Faith Gospel Tabernacale Church at 1820 Coon Rapids Blvd, Coon Rapids, MN. Luncheon to follow.
