Obituary of Larry Lee Miller

Larry Lee Miller, 83, of Grove Lake passed away on February 18, 2023, at the Glacial Ridge Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Larry was born on January 31, 1940, to Russell and Laura (Seiler) Miller in Lincoln County. Larry was raised on the family farm until age 6 when his family, moved to Marshall, MN. He shared many memories growing up with his 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

He attended school in Marshall, MN before entering the Navy in 1958. He completed basic training and received a medical discharge due to an unrelated injury. After his time in the military, he attended Willmar Technical College and received a degree in auto body, which was a passion that he pursued for several years.

Larry was united in marriage to Shirley Schnetzer on August 19, 1978, at the Grove Lake Chapel. They made their home on Grove Lake, where they enjoyed many gatherings with family and friends over the last 45 years.

In his younger years he was an avid stock car driver and water skier. He enjoyed watching his favorite football team, the MN Vikings, and Nascar. His favorite race car driver was Dale Earnhardt. Larry enjoyed camping and gatherings with his siblings and cousins; getting together with his family was always a high priority. Larry also looked forward to his annual fishing trip to the Missouri River. He enjoyed traveling to Florida, Arizona, the occasional cruise, and random trips to the casino. In his free time, he enjoyed painting and watching TV with his Beagle, Niko. He shared a full life with Shirley and his children.

Larry was an incredible husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He had a zest for life and always wanted to have a good time; he enjoyed sharing his life with others. For those fortunate enough to know him he will forever be missed.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Miller of Grove Lake; their children, Rocky Miller of Alexandria, MN, Robin Miller of Alexandria, MN, Kelly (John) Rinkel of Union, IL, Karen (Jon) Lamonge of Naples, FL, and Krista (Skip) Halverson of Richmond, MN; grandchildren, Bonnie (Andy) and Sarah, Nathan and Nicholas, Jarred and Ethan, Olivia and Hadley, Shaya and Siri and 6 great grandchildren; siblings, Darlene Balm-Demmel, Russ (Sona) Miller, Dan (Bernie) Miller, Judy (Tom) Butcher; several nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Laura Miller; his aunts and uncles; brother-in-law, Gary Demmel; his niece, Michelle Balm; and his cousin and fishing buddy, Alan Mitchell.

A service of remembrance will be held at Glenwood United Parish at 2pm on Saturday February 25, 2023, with a visitation 1 hour prior to the service. A celebration of life party will be following the service. Flowers or donations may be sent to Glenwood United Parish (10 17th Ave NW Glenwood, MN 56334).
