Obituary of Phyllis Marie Winter

Phyllis Marie (Greenman, Shatto) Winter, 81, of Duluth, passed away on Monday, Dec. 5, 2016 at Essentia Health surrounded by her family. Phyllis was born in Grand Forks, N.D., on Jan. 17, 1935 to Richard and Evelyn (Dietzler) Greenman. Phyllis worked at Avionics, Cook Home and retired from Chris Jensen. After retiring, she enjoyed volunteering at Birchwood Elementary School. She also enjoyed traveling to 49 out of the 50 states including Canada and Mexico with her loving husband, Mickey Winter of 38 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; ex-husband, Harold Shatto; brother, Richard "Dick" Greenman; and son, Joseph Shatto. Phyllis is survived by her husband, Mickey Winter; seven children, Lyle Shatto, Jeanne (Mickey) McLeod, Laurie (Ray) Roberts, Linda Spindler, Shelly Winter, Guy (Pam) Winter and Mavity (Tim) McRae; 27 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; life-long friends, Louise, Esther, Susie, Judy, Don and Nina with many other friends including Tiny and Yogi. GATHERING OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS: 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m. memorial service on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016 in Cremation Society of Minnesota 4100 Grand Ave. Duluth. A reception will follow the service.
