Obituary of Mary E. Waller

Mary E. Waller died at her home in Inver Grove Heights, MN on December 16th, 2016. She was 66 years old. Her parents, Lyle and Jean Rostad preceded her in death. Mary is survived by her loving husband, Stephen. They had been married for 44 wonderful years. She is survived by her children: Andrew (Emily) Waller of Stillwater, Mark (Brigitte Mussack) Waller of Minneapolis, and Dan Waller of Minnetonka. She is also survived by her brother Peter (Debra) of Port Charlotte, FL, her sister-in-law, Nancy (Steve) Grundahl of Minneapolis, and her brother-in-law Craig (Rebecca) Waller of Eden Prairie. Mary dearly loved her family and loved playing with her grandchildren Anna, Erik, Olivia, Ingrid, Malcolm and Colette. Andy and Jo Knutson, Bobbie and Marv Bringe, and Bobbi and John Haugan were all very special to Mary. Mary attended public schools in Eau Claire, Wisconsin and graduated from Memorial High School in 1968. She was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church. Steve and Mary married at Grace in 1972 after both graduated from St. Olaf College. She was blessed with the opportunity to solo with the St. Olaf Choir and sing the lead part in the University of Minnesota's Opera. Always fond of Eau Claire, she came back many times for visits to extended family and church. Mary taught music for over thirty years in Minnesota and Wisconsin. In 2012 she and Steve moved to the Twin Cities to be near their family and the cultural activities they all enjoyed. She enjoyed being the family genealogist, celebrating her Norwegian roots and culture, ensuring that legacy passes to the next generation. Mary requests that everyone wear bright colors to her celebration of life. Sing your hearts out with thankful joy and the happiness you all brought to it! Services will be held at Augustana Lutheran Church in West St. Paul, MN on Friday, January 6th, 2017 at 11 a.m. Visitation at the church one hour before the service.
