Obituary of Subhra Chowdhury

Subhra Chowdhury passed away on December 19, 2016 in Kolkata, India at the age of 72. Subhra is survived by her son, Debashis Chowdhury, his wife, Laurel and her grandson Ethan, as well as her sister-in-law, Vijoya DasGupta and brother, Dipankar DasGupta, his wife, Krishna Banjeree DasGupta, their daughter Nandini, and her husband Unmil. She was preceded in death by her husband, Krishna Chandra Chowdhury and her brothers Ashok DasGupta & Bibhuti DasGupta. Subhra was born on October 12, 1944 in Kolkata, India to Profulla Ranjan and Renuka DasGupta. She was a graduate of Patna University in Patna, India where she completed her PhD in Philosophy in 1973 as well as St. Mary's University of Winona, Minnesota where she completed a Master's Degree in Education in 1991. Subhra was an elementary school teacher for both the Minneapolis and St. Paul Public School districts for over 25 years where she was once cited as their teacher of the year. She was a dedicated member of the Bengali Association of Minnesota for over 30 years and an active volunteer with various educational organizations in the Twin Cities. Important to her identity was her faithful devotion to the values of the Self-Realization Fellowship. A visitation is scheduled for Sunday, January 8th at 9 AM at the Cremation Society of Minnesota at 7110 France Ave South, Edina, MN. All are welcome to attend and celebrate her life.
