Obituary of Bonnie Anne Locker

Bonnie Anne (Kangas) Locker, 65, of Duluth passed away peacefully on Dec. 31, 2016, surrounded by her family, after a five-month courageous battle with cancer. Bonnie was born on March 25, 1951 in Omaha, Neb. After some time in Hibbing, she moved to Duluth. She graduated from Duluth East High School in 1969. In recent years she has been spending winters in Sun City Center, Fla., and summers in Duluth. Bonnie enjoyed bowling, golfing, racquetball, watching her sons play hockey, playing cards, spring breaks with her grandkids, gardening, decorating, playing with her dogs and reading. She worked at the family owned and operated Duluth Courthouse Racquetball Club and Mount Royal Tanning Salon and retired early to enjoy family and traveling. Bonnie was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Kangas; father, Earl Kangas; and mother Irene Kangas-Johnson. She is survived by her loving husband, John Locker; sister, Barb Odden (Clay); brother, Kurt Kangas (Suzanna); sons, Mike (Stacy), Derek (Angie) and Chris; grandchildren, Taylor, Kaitlyn, Joshua, Matthew, Megan; nieces and nephews, Josh, Kimberly, Kurt, Jr., Dane, Laura, Victoria; her dog, Izzy who never left her side and many beloved relatives and friends. Bonnie is remembered as a kind, good-natured woman, who lived her life with dignity and grace to the end. Bonnie's family would like to thank the Essentia Health Home Hospice Team for their compassionate care and guidance, making her last days as comfortable as possible. CELEBRATION OF LIFE: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church 1325 N. 45th Avenue East, Duluth, MN 55804. Reception will follow the service.
