Obituary of Robert E. McDonnell

Robert E. McDonnell, age 95, of Edina, MN, passed away peacefully January 3, 2017. Bob grew up in Mahtomedi, MN, he attended the University of St. Thomas and graduated from the University of Colorado. He served as a 1st Lt in the United States Marine Corps during WWII, fought in the Pacific and earned 3 Purple Hearts. Preceded in death by his wife, Janet (nee Meany) McDonnell and wife, Jenny (nee Huey) McDonnell; brother, Thomas McDonnell and sister, Mary Lou Schneeweis. Survived by children: Joan (Ed) Becker, Robert (Amy) McDonnell, Mary McDonnell, Thomas (Kelly) McDonnell and Jenny's children; Jane (Mark) Callender and Ann Huey (Martin); grandchildren: Katie, Matt, Sally, Tommy, Ella, Will, Luke, Daniel, Sarah and other extended family and friends. Private interment, Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials preferred to The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation.
