Obituary of Caroline M. May Stark Rukavina

Caroline M. May Stark Rukavina, 91, of Duluth, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017 in Chris Jensen Nursing Home. She was born in Adolph, on Jan. 4, 1926 to William and Stella May. Caroline graduated from Proctor High School in 1943. She worked for the DM&IR Railroad for 17 years as a telephone switchboard operator. She was a past member of St. Elizabeth Church and volunteered for Meals on Wheels. Caroline was married to Wallace Stark who passed away, she later married Steve Rukavina. They moved to Florida and Steve passed away in 2009. Caroline then returned to Duluth. She loved to paint and travel. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Jess and Harry May; sister, Tillie Mattson and brother-in-law, Willie Mattson. Caroline is survived by her sister, Virginia (Wally) Johnson, Hermantown; step daughter, Kim (Tracy) Johnson, Florida; sisters-in-law, Dolly Rukavina Foucault and Jackie Rukavina of Duluth; nephews Tom May, Illinois, Gary (Diane) May, North Carolina, and Randy (Carleen) Mattson, Duluth; many other nephews and nieces and special friend Sister Melanie. A special thank you to the staff for their kindness and care given to Caroline at Chris Jensen. VISITATION: 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m. memorial service on Monday, Jan. 16, in Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4100 Grand Avenue, Duluth with Deacon John Foucault officiating.
