Obituary of Helen Marguerite Stormont Browne

Helen Marguerite Stormont Browne, 93, of Duluth, Minn. died Jan. 18, 2017. Helen had been a resident of The Shores at Ecumen Lakeshore since 2006. She died peacefully at Solvay House after a brief stay. She was born Dec. 1, 1923 in Hodgeman County, Kan. to Frank and Orpha Stormont. She grew up in Kansas and was a champion in the state spelling bee. Helen was a proud graduate of the University of Kansas. She and husband Charles Browne were married Sept. 1, 1947, and shared 63 years of marriage before his death in 2010. After living in Colorado, Wyoming, California and Minneapolis, they settled in Duluth in 1956 where they raised their family. Helen was a homemaker and a very active volunteer. She and Chuck moved to Scottsdale, Ariz. in 1987, where they enjoyed 20 years of retirement. She was a longtime member of Glen Avon Presbyterian Church. Helen was preceded in death by her husband and parents. She is survived by and will be greatly missed by her children Nancy (Gary) Loberg of Duluth, Donald (Alice) Browne of Minneapolis, and Carol (Rick) Olson of Rice Lake, Minn.; grandchildren Matthew (Chinsia Jenny) Loberg, Robyn (Michael) DuPuis, Eric (Laura) Loberg and Bessie (Gus) Browne; and great-grandchildren Madison, Alexis, Alex, Harper, Kellen, Claire and Katelyn. Helen will be fondly remembered by family and friends who often heard her say, "Worry about nothing, pray about everything, be grateful for anything." She was a great mom. The family would like to thank the staff at The Shores Assisted Living for 12 years of loving care and support. Thanks also to the staff at Solvay for their peaceful comfort care.
