Obituary of Alice D. Michaelson

Alice D. Michaelson, 94, of Esko passed from this world July 10, 2018. She was born the 7th of 12 children to John and Fannie Sunnarborg, and graduated in 1942 from Esko Lincoln High School. In 1943, she married Richard "Ray" Michaelson of Cloquet in Oakland, California, where he was stationed in the military. Ali was married to Ray for 54 years before his death in 1997. She was also preceded in death by her parents; by 10 of her siblings - 6 brothers: Clarence, Fred, Johnnie, Martin, Lloyd and Kenneth Sunnarborg and 4 sisters: Mildred Juntunen, Gladys Hendrickson, Doris Santerre and Betsy Mills; by her son-in-law Henry J. (Carolyn) Droogsma and her daughter-in-law Arlene K. (Rick) Michaelson. She is survived by her 4 children Carolyn Droogsma of Gulf Breeze FL, Rick Michaelson of Esko, Merle (Frank) Peterson of Cloquet and Tim (Michelle) Michaelson of Cloquet; by 9 grandchildren Kristy (Karl) Kinley of Jacksonville FL, Michael (Trish) Droogsma of Pensacola FL, Blair Droogsma of Houston TX, Grant (Samantha) Droogsma of Jacksonville FL, Aaron Michaelson of Eagan, Terese (Matt) Harrington of Cocoa Beach FL, Niko (Sierra) Michaelson of Esko, Alyssa Michaelson of Esko and Ian Michaelson of Cloquet; 13 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter; sister Lola McKibbon of Esko, sisters-in-law Claudia Sunnarborg of Carlton, Arlene Rich of Burnsville, Ruth Michaelson of Shoreview and many, many nieces and nephews. Pastor Bruce Bergstedt will preside over a private memorial service on July 29th for the immediate family. Memorial donations may be made to Apostolic Lutheran Church, 25 Church Road, Esko, MN 55733.
