Obituary of Aarne Aarmas Sikio
Aarne Aarmas Sikio, 85, died peacefully at Chris Jensen, July 10, 2018. He was born in Finland on January 5, 1933.
Aarne immigrated to the U.S. in 1960. He was a Master Tailor, proud Finn and known by all for his crazy sense of humor. Prior to his immigration, he was the featherweight champion boxer of Finland. He also ran the Olympic torch for his beloved Finland. He was scheduled to compete in the Rome Olympics but was "knocked out" and in love with his soon to be wife of 52 years, Anja. Now finally, their great love affair can continue again.... Together.
Aarne is preceded in death by his wife Anja and son Jukka.
He is survived by his sons Pete (Monica), Nunnu (Lisa); granddaughters Dayba (Billy Leonard), Jaana Sikio and great grandchildren Kaitlyn and JJ.
The family would like to thank the staff at Chris Jensen Willows Unit and Mark Norgard for the exceptional care they provided to Aarne. He was loved by many and will be missed by all.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Wednesday, July 18th from 3-5 pm at Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4100 Grand Ave., Duluth. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity in Aarne's name.
